Cordoba Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

I looked at them and realized how precious this moment was. These were my friends, my family, and my church. As I sang in the worship band I marveled just how great God is. This church had gone from 0 to around 70 people in a year’s time. I, having the privilege of being one of the worship leaders, was blessed beyond measure to see our church full on the day of our church’s anniversary. August 2015 we opened our doors and began the Church of the Nazarene Puerta Abierta in Córdoba, Argentina. This past Sunday August 21, 2016 we celebrated together the year of victory as well as some hardships! With growth there is always pain. Despite the struggles and hardships that came along the way, we can honestly say that God has been ever faithful to His church and has blessed us incredibly. A year ago we were sitting in a big empty room with just our team members representing the church. The above photo is pictured our second service in our church. As you can see it was a sparse turnout; and so it began, the road to making disciples. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20.

Our “great commission” has not changed since Jesus commanded His disciples to “go” and “make disciples.” We firmly believe as a Church that it is our responsibility to obey this last commandment of the Lord.

Our vision? To go and do just as the Lord commanded.

As aforementioned it wasn’t easy and still isn’t easy at times, but there is always joy. God took us from ground 0 to two church services in which together we have about about 70 people attending the Church! Praise the Lord!

When I was singing this past Sunday I was reminded of the faithfulness of the Lord. Not only has He blessed us with a new church building, but He continuously grows His Church. These people that I have come to know and love are products of God’s faithfulness. We have been called to proclaim His love to the nations and He has brought the harvest.

It is amazing how much can happen in just a year. There are people, friends of mine, that are part of this church now, and I didn’t know them before! How beautiful is God’s Church! We grow and unite, and love and this is all possible through Christ. What unites us is not each other, it is Christ. Christ’s faithfulness to us makes it possible for us to live in harmony and have love for each other.

I am so proud to be part of this Church, because I know that the Lord is with us and He is perfecting His people and this baby Church. We have been immensely blessed and I cannot even begin to express the ways that certain people, certain events, and simply this Church has blessed my heart.

I am a better person and have grown spiritually because God brought me to Córdoba where He knew I would learn and love. What a privilege it is to be a part of God’s Church and to live in community with these lovely people.

Our first Anniversary marks the beginning of more things to come! Pastor Junior recently held a meeting for our current and future leaders of the church! What a blessing it was to walk into the Church and see my friends filling the seats listening to Pastor’s vision for the Church and how we are going to grow together.

I am excited to see how the Lord is and will continue to grow this church!

A year’s time from now I am trusting that the Lord will have expanded this church to double or more than we can even imagine!

Please keep the Córdoba Church of the Nazarene in your prayers as we continue to grow and attempt to go and make disciples to win more for Christ. We are blessed and we want to be a blessing to others.
