Ibarra Friday: Prayer, Prep & Kids Event!

The short term team in Ibarra has hit the ground running.  After their orientation and prayer adventure on Thursday, Friday was filled with prayer, event prep and a kids event in the neighborhood of Azaya. They started the morning with a prayer service led by Rebecc1457530_10201843611292104_5499946122991832586_na and Diana.  This is really awesome because Diana is a leader from the Ambato, Ecuador church plant who asked if she could come and volunteer with the May project.  So, not only are our church planting and short term missionaries ministering and evangelizing with the Ibarra church leaders, so is Diana!

It was a powerful time of worship and individual prayer. The rest of the morning was spent in preparation time, preparing skits, sorting project supplies, sorting clothing to be given out at the afternoon event, and a little bit of down time after a big day Thursday.

IMG_0076In the afternoon, they traveled to an area of the city in Azaya.  The event was a children’s program with two skits done by the the short-term volunteers, as well as songs, games, prizes, balloon animals, face painting and goodie bags to give to the kids.  There was also a clothing distribution for the people of the neighborhood.  The church in Ibarra really stepped up to reach out in compassion to their city and donated the clothing the team distributed.

Heyner, one of our 40/40 Church-Planting Missionaries, presented the Gospel and dozens of children accepted Christ.  An estimated 200 people were in attendance this afternoon.  Praise God!

Friday evening, the team had some free time to rest after their big day and to have an early night before 5am prayer on this morning.

The team paved the way for ministry at the Ibarra church's Saturday 5am prayer service this morning.  Now, they're hosting a soccer tournament evangelism event in a neighborhood near the 40/40 house.

Here's a quick photo of the team this morning on the public bus en route to the soccer field.  The girls' teams are playing each other first, then the guys.

Pray with us for the guys and girls in the soccer tournament, that they would be interested in the church and desire to learn more about the Lord.
